Jack Bruce - 14 May 1943 – 25 October 2014
I grew up listening to Cream and it was a massive surprise when I found out Jack Bruce was Scottish. When I was a teenager, there seemed to be no credible musicians from Scotland. I know now that it was my record collection that was lacking but when I was growing up, Scotland's musical contribution seemed to be Wet, Wet, Wet, Deacon Blue, The Bay City Rollers & Lulu. It took a bit longer to come across Michael Marra. My headphones constantly boomed with Bowie, The Stones, Springsteen & Cream. So when it was revealed to me that 33.3% of Cream came from Bishopbriggs, I couldn't believe it.
Rest in peace Jack, you ment so much to so many but you gave many young Scottish musicians hope that the topper most of the popper most was not only within reach, but had already been conquered. X
